Terms & Conditions

The short version

Lektora helps you learn languages by reading and listening to stories. Be decent, don't copy our stuff. Using Lektora means you agree to these terms.

1. What Lektora is

Lektora is a reading and listening service for language learners. We publish stories written in mixed language across several difficulty levels, with audio narration, and track your reading progress so you can pick up where you left off.

2. Your account

You sign in with a Google or Apple account. You're responsible for what happens under your account, so keep access to it safe. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use Lektora.

You can delete your account at any time from the app's account settings. See our Privacy Policy for what happens to your data.

3. Pricing and subscriptions

The first chapter of every book is free for everyone. The rest of the library is unlocked by a paid subscription, Lektora Unlimited, purchased inside the app as an Apple in-app subscription. The exact price, and any free trial, is always shown in the app before you pay. Nothing is ever charged silently.

Billing, renewal, and cancellation are handled by Apple through your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your device's subscription settings; deleting your Lektora account does not cancel an Apple subscription on its own.

4. Fair use

Lektora is for your personal, non-commercial use. Please don't:

  • copy, scrape, or redistribute our stories, audio, or other content;
  • share your account or resell access;
  • probe, overload, or attempt to break the service or other people's accounts;
  • use automated tools to bulk-download content.

5. Our content

The stories, translations, audio narration, design, and software that make up Lektora belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a limited, personal, revocable licence to read and listen within the service. That licence ends when your account does.

6. Ending things

You can stop using Lektora and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or abuse the service. We may also wind down the service itself; if we do, we'll give reasonable notice.

7. No warranties

Lektora is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We work hard on it, but we can't guarantee it will always be available, error-free, or that any particular story will make you fluent.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of Lektora. If you only use the free parts of the service, our total liability to you is limited to zero; if you pay for a subscription, it's limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Lektora evolves. If a change is significant, we'll flag it in the app or by email. Continuing to use Lektora after a change means you accept the new terms.
